JCPS Adult and Continuing Education
is proud to provide services on site at the Office of Employment and
Training (OET), conveniently located downtown on the corner of Sixth
and Cedar. Friendly Educational Advisors assist clients with the
necessary referrals for appropriate assessments, as well as for
skills upgrades in basic math, writing, and reading, resume writing,
and online job searching. Many opportunities exist at OET not only for jobs and career paths, but for job training and preparation as well. Clients are informed of adult education services available to them such as earning a GED, post secondary preparation, and job opportunities and promotions with Jefferson County Public Schools and other local agencies. The adult education instructors also provide pre-employment assessments for local businesses and agencies, with classes available for those needing remediation before or after the testing. Approximately three thousand clients per month come through the doors of OET at Sixth and Cedar. Those needing extra services are guided to the SkillBuild classroom. The SkillBuild participants have access to the state of the art computer lab where computer instruction is offered four days a week. The instructional area seats approximately twenty people and is operated on a scheduled appointment basis. Parking is convenient and free, and the location is directly on the bus route.
